The TAS TurnKey Disaster Recovery Solution focuses on recovery at the DR site to either physical or virtual server infrastructure. This solution provides the flexibility to mix your platforms based upon your business risk profile, whilst maximising your ROI through the use of server virtualisation technologies from VMware (www.vmware.com). Regardless of whether the DR site is physical or virtual, this solution is server hardware platform independent. How is this possible? The TAS solution utilises the market leading OS portability technology from PlateSpin (www.platespin.com) to perform OS reconfiguration for the destination system (physical or virtual server); in addition, it reconfigures the system for the designated DR IT environment.
 How does it work?
The high level concept of the TurnKey solution is to take regular images of the servers and either stream the image real time OR batch transfer the server images via file transfer or tape media to the DR site. The image is a point in time copy of the servers operating system and data. The image can take the form of a complete backup, PlateSpin image OR a 3rd party live imaging tool such as Acronis True Image and Symantec Live State Recovery (LSR). TAS utilises a mixture of these technologies within the solution to meet the SLA requirements you have for individual servers so to minimise server downtime.
The TAS TurnKey Solution utilises the PlateSpin PowerConvert tool to convert the images from image format to the designated virtual and physical platforms. Through its revolutionary I2V (Image to Virtual) and I2P (Image to Physical) capabilities, multiple recovery conversions can occur simultaneously or scheduled as to your requirements.
What is included within the solution?
TAS design, deployment, handover, training and the necessary software licenses are included within the solution. Success of the solution is not achieved until a DR exercise is completed for at least 2 servers.
There are several options that can be chosen:
- Image creation with production server outage
- Image server creation without production server outage
- Recovery window at DR
- Maximum tolerable data loss window for DR
- TAS to supply servers for DR OR You supply the servers to TAS specifications
- TAS supplies data centre space OR you provide the data centre space for DR
- TAS to operate and maintain the DR solution for you
